THE PATH TO HEALTH
CHINESE PENTAGRAM
Chinese medicine recognizes five basic organs and their circuits in the human body: the liver, heart, spleen, lungs, and kidneys. The sixth organ, the brain, can be seen as a stand-alone element connecting all the other organs. The pentagram illustrates how health and harmony are secured by finding a balance between them. According to the pentagram, our bodies are healthy only if the primary organs are free of infection nests and toxins. Emotions and stress often cause health issues, classified under the principle of water and the kidneys in the pentagram. We can also work with the meridian system, the channel network through which the life-energy known as "qi" flows. The 12 Principal meridians are divided into Yin and Yang groups: Yin meridians of the arm are Lung, Heart, and Pericardium, while Yang meridians of the arm are Large Intestine, Small Intestine, and Triple Burner. Yin meridians of the leg are Spleen, Kidney, and Liver, while Yang meridians of the leg are Stomach, Bladder, and Gall Bladder. Knowledge of these channels can help us find solutions to our health problems.
